Rick Amernick

Rick Amernick is the founder of the DC Capital Striders Running Group and currently serves as the organization's president. The group began in spring 2006 as a way to unite runners and athletically minded individuals for free weekly runs and to train, volunteer and motivate each other to perform at their best and meet their fitness goals. Since inception, Rick has participated in four marathons, several half marathons, century bike rides, triathlons and other endurance events. He currently is certified as a running coach through Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and has trained several athletes to meet various racing events. He is an ambassador for the National Tour De Cure, a cycling series through the American Diabetes Assocation. Rick is a certified school psychologist and also teaches college courses as an adjunct professor. He is from Baltimore originally and is an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles.

David Ramos

David began running in high school, not out of interest but because the cross country team offered the only way to satisfy P.E. credit while still taking the yearbook class. He thought he might quit after satisfying the credit requirements, but 15 years later, he's still running. He runs distances from 10Ks through marathons, and values the sport both for its social aspects and for the unique quietude it offers. A long-time transportation cyclist, he recently discovered the joys of triathlons and road bike rides. He leads the Adams Morgan/Columbia Heights morning runs and serves as the DCCS Technology Director. During the day (and some evenings) he teaches design at a DC art school and runs an interaction design/development practice.

Lindsay Marsh

A lifelong swimmer, Lindsay started running in order to complete an Olympic length triathlon in 2007. "Learning to run" wasn't easy, but was especially rewarding - she's now addicted to races. Since the first triathlon, she’s averaged two a year plus numerous other road races ranging from 5ks to half marathons. In 2010 she also started distance biking with the Tour de Cure Century bike ride in June. She serves as the Secretary on the DC Capital Striders board and is an Assistant Organizer, leading the 6:30am Monday and Wednesday runs from Stanton Park each week. When not training, she runs a liquor distribution company selling her family’s artisan spirits and a social media consulting firm.

Michael Donovan

Michael Donovan, the DCCS Outreach Director, enjoys running races of all distances, but has recently focused on half-iron distance triathlons. Before finding his passion for endurance sports, most of Michael’s running was done on a soccer field and he continues this as a college and professional referee. When he is not racing, refereeing or promoting DCCS, Michael serves as the Director of the Young Health Professionals Society in DC and works at the National Institutes of Health.
